Smoke AlarmsBack

Most fire deaths are caused by smoke, not flames. And most fire deaths and injuries occur at night while victims are asleep. The earlier you are alerted to a fire, the more likely it is that you will get out in time. Smoke alarms won't prevent fires, but they will increase your chances of getting out and calling 911. Working smoke alarms more than double your chances of surviving a fire.

The presence of a smoke detector alone does not guarantee fire safety; it must work. Test your smoke alarms monthly and change the batteries twice a year. Vacuum your alarms monthly to remove dust and cobwebs. Replace old alarms. Smoke alarms ten years old or older need to be replaced.

Escape Plan

Don't forget to make an escape plan with your family including two ways out and a planned meeting place once you are out.

 Alternate Escape

If bedrooms are located on the second level or higher of your home you will need an escape ladder for those bedrooms. Fire escape ladders are available at most hardware stores.

PRACTICE YOUR FAMILY'S PLAN TOGETHER!!!

We provide smoke detectors and batteries for those who quailfy for the program.
