BICYCLE LICENSE

The Burlington Police Department offers FREE bicycle registration to the citizens of Burlington.  This can be done at the Burlington Police Department business office Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. excluding holidays.

Last year the Burlington Police Department impounded 50 bikes that went unclaimed and the owners were unable to be identified.  These bikes were donated to the Kiwanis Club to be given away to children.

Owners who come to the Burlington Police Department to register their bike should bring the following information if possible:

·        Name, address, and telephone number of the owner.

·        Make of the bicycle.

·        Model of the bicycle.

·        Serial number of the bicycle.

·        Color of the bicycle.

·        Tire size of the bicycle.

·        Value of the bicycle if known.

Burlington Police Department office staff will assign a registration number to the bike and enter it into their computer system.  As an extra precaution it is a good idea to engrave the number assigned onto the frame of the bike.

DOG LICENSE

You may obtain a dog license at the Burlington Police Department located at 311 Cedar Street, Suite B, Burlington, during regular business hours Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., excluding holidays.

Dog license fees are $20.00 for an un-altered dog and $5.00 for an altered dog.  The license is good for the remainer of the current calendar year and should be renewed at the beginning of the new calendar year.

Dog distraining/redemtion fee is $75.00.  A distraining/redemption

fee may be charged to the animal owner if the animal has been transferrred to SPOT, and is reclaimed by the owner.  Any other fees, including boarding and veterinary care (if needed) may be included in the redemption fee.  Animals not claimed by the owner within 10 days become property of SPOT and are evaluated for adoption.

FINGERPRINTING

Fingerprinting is done at the Burlington Police Department by appointment only Tuesday through Friday.  This is subject to change due to personnel availability.  Picture identification is required.

There is a fee of $5.00 for each card, which must be paid at the time of the fingerprinting.  If for some reason the fingerprints are returned as un-readable, we will re-print you at no charge.  Be sure and call for an appointment.

Please allow at least thirty minutes to be printed.
