BURLINGTON HARVEST FESTIVAL AND PUMPKIN PITCH | |
| Kick off the fall with this FREE event for all ages hosted annually on the last weekend of September! |

| September 25, 2010 |
|
Join us on September 25, 2010 for Saturday's MUST-SEE Event…the great Pumpkin Pitch! The ORIGINAL Washington State Pumpkin Hurling Competition. This unique event is hosted annually at Burlington's Skagit River Park. Competitors use a medieval style catapult called "trebuchet" (its literal meaning is "stone-hurler") to launch pumpkins at targets erected throughout the park. All Pumpkin Pitch machines are constructed solely by the participating teams and their accomplishment is truly an incredible sight to behold. 2003-2007 Distance Competition: The Burlington Pumpkin Pitch has hosted the two-time "distance-hurling" world champion, TreBarbaric. The TreBarbaric team established a new World Record in 2007 with a hurl of 1866.8 feet – within mere inches of the Skagit River Park boundary! Visit www.thehurl.org for great links to the medieval world of catapults and trebuchets. Learn how to build your own! Questions about entering a machine? Contact event coordinator, Christi Kinney at christik@ci.burlington.wa.us
