NEWS RELEASE
The Burlington Lodging Tax Advisory Committee will accept applications for 2012 Lodging Tax Funds through August 31, 2011.
The Burlington City Council established a Lodging Tax Advisory Committee in 1994 to distribute Lodging Tax Funds to organizations that will promote, encourage and increase tourism within the City of Burlington. The Lodging Tax Advisory Committee is represented by Chairperson Edie Edmundson, Burlington City Councilmember; three (3) representatives of hotels/motels located in Burlington and three (3) members representing organizations authorized to receive lodging tax funds. The function of this committee is to review proposed projects/events that will enhance tourism within the City of Burlington. Once these proposals have been reviewed this committee shall recommend to the Burlington City Council which projects should be funded with the Lodging Taxes. Lodging Taxes available for 2012 are estimated to be $150,000. Selected proposals will be based on their emphasis and ability to create events and activities that will result in positive user impacts on lodging, restaurants and retail markets of Burlington
