DOWNTOWN ART WALK
 - a sanctioned Tulip Festival Event! 

The Burlington Parks Foundation is proud to present the 1st annual  Art Walk in coordination with the Burlington Chamber of Commerce and its local merchants.  A juried exhibition of area artwork will be displayed in Downtown Burlington merchant windows and shops throughout the month of April.

NEW:  National Flood Insurance Program PRELIMINARY MAPS  issued on December 15, 2009 were withdrawn by FEMA on December 22, 2009.  Maps will be reissued sometime in the first quarter of 2010 and will be posted on line. __________________________________________________________________________________

Welcome to Planning and Community Development.  This is the location of a number of key services offered by the City of Burlington including the following:

 

·        One-stop Permit Center for all land use, construction and infrastructure permits.

 

·        Public Information on zoning, subdivisions, environmental review, critical areas, and a variety of related topics ranging from new commercial and residential construction to neighborhood questions about fences, garages and pets.

 

·        Long range planning including updating Burlington's Comprehensive Plans and Capital Improvement Plan.  Special areas of emphasis include Downtown planning and coordination with the Downtown Burlington Association and implementing the Community Connections Plan.

 

·        Burlington's Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan, base flood elevation information, and coordination of the Federal Emergency Management Agency's Community Rating System program for Burlington.

 

On-going public participation opportunities include:

 

·        Regular Neighborhood Planning meetings held every spring and fall for anyone interested in direct input and discussion of issues and ideas.

 

·        Land Use Bulletin sent to anyone who wants to be on the mailing list providing updates on land use permit applications, code changes, and updates on Gages Slough and the Skagit River Corridor – now available online click here.

 

·        Volunteer positions representing the community on the Board of Adjustment, Planning Commission and various Task Forces on specific issues.
