Ebsco Ebooks

 

The Ebsco Ebook Collection is primarily public domain Project Gutenberg titles which includes classics such as Shakespeare, Bronte sisters, Les Miserables, Mark Twain, Jane Austen, Thomas Paine, the U. S. Constitution and Bill of Rights, Thomas Jefferson, etc. These ebooks open in Ebsco reader software and are readable on your computer but not downloadable.


To get started, you will need to install free software for downloading.

Titles can be enjoyed immediately or transferred to a variety of devices, including iPod®, Sony® Reader™, and many others. Some audio titles can also be burned to CD to listen on-the-go. There are no late fees! Check out for 7 or 14 days (mp3, wma).

eBooks are very popular right now, especially since it is now possible to download to Kindle. Our NW Anytime Library coalition is trying to respond by purchasing more titles. We are aware of the high demand and are working to address it. Meanwhile, please check out only those titles you can read in the specified time period.  
  • eBooks purchased by the library are available from the NW Anytime OverDrive website. You can also search for Ebooks in the library catalog which will direct you to the NW Anytime site to download. (There are other resources for public domain and special ebook, epub and pdf resources available at the bottom of this page.) 
  • You can browse the collection, check out with your library card, and download to PC, Mac®, and many mobile devices--now including Kindle. 
  • To read eBooks, you'll need to download software called Adobe® Digital Editions.
  • Click here to view our Quick Start guide to for downloading Overdrive ebooks.  Page 1 is for Kindle books; pages 2 and 3 apply to other e-reading options.  Remember, you can read Overdrive books on computers, tablets or phones with free apps provided by Kindle, Apple, Barnes & Noble and others.
TIPS FOR eBOOK "ETIQUETTE"
  • You can take advantage of the Wishlist option to remember to check for items that might be available. It is also possible to set a specific lending period for 14 or 21 days for (pdf, epub & Kindle). It is not possible to renew titles. 
  • You may download a title again if no one is waiting for the item, otherwise you will need to get in the holds queue.
  • To find out if your ebook is is due, log into the Washington Anytime Library and select "My Account – My Items Out." You will find a complete list of what you have checked out and when it's due.
  • Adobe® eBooks can be returned using Adobe Digital Editions. EPUB ebooks can be returned using OverDrive Media Console v2.3 (or newer) for Android, BlackBerry, and iPhone/iPad.
